The endless Piekouagami!

The sun’s rays shimmering on the deep blue waves, children playing in the sand, the calm of nature . . . that is enough to have you dreaming. And you don’t have to dream about being far away, since the beaches of Lac Saint-Jean offer 1000 km2 of freshwater lined with 42 km of fine sand beaches, right here in Quebec.

Our beaches are among the most beautiful beaches in the province of Quebec

The lake is shallow, which is ideal for children to safely swim and play in the water.

In addition to letting yourself be carried away by the sound of the wind and to enjoying the warmth of July for a swim in refreshing fresh water, you can really have a lot of fun on our beaches. You can rent boats, go camping near the beach or reach the horizon on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard. With your family, as a couple or with friends, the beaches and 250 islands of Lac Saint-Jean offer the best of summer.

If you are considering visiting one of our beaches, please contact us. We can help you plan for a perfect day.

The secrets of an unforgettable day at the beach

Did you know that Lac Saint-Jean has another name? Yes, it is also called Piekouagami. It means “shallow” according to the Porcupine nation who inhabited its banks a few hundred years ago.

And if you’re looking to contemplate the most beautiful view of the lake, head out to the Camp musical du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, the rest area in Métabetchouan, or even at the trading Post in Desbiens.

Finally, there is one essential element that you should know about the beaches of Lac Saint-Jean: they are the most beautiful places to observe the sunset. You will witness the water of the lake dancing with the flamboyant colours of the sky as the sun reddens the landscape like nowhere else. And if you want to make the most of it, visit our beaches during the summer solstice!
